Before launching this site on April 1, 2011, we received an email on March 30, 2011 from a volunteer at 911 Parrot Alert offering to assist this site in helping a family locate their lost African Gray Parrot missing since 2006! The family said they will never give up their search and no doubt they mean it! 911 Parrot Alert was there to help; they cross-posted the ad to their lost and found bird database. Their website reads, “911 Parrot Alert is an international initiative dedicated to helping reunite Lost, Stolen and Found parrots & birds with their families.” They told us they have over 80,000 (yes 80,000) listings for lost and found birds, organized by location, type and date, with new entries daily. They let us know they are a free service staffed with volunteers with a passion for parrots. Please visit their site and offer your support.
